Coffee Drop InEach Friday we are running a Coffee Drop In morning Our first Coffee Drop In morning took place 28th January 2011 and was a great success. The hosts were Stephanie & David Blincow and a fine job they did too. Soft music played in the background and the tables were adorned with table cloths and fresh flowers. Newspapers were available as well although it must be said that the visitors were so busy talking, they had little time for reading. Each week we have different items available because it's all down to the individuality of the hosts. Of course there is always tea, and fresh coffee but beyond that we may well have toasted buns, home-made cakes and biscuits, even toast, fried eggs, hot pancakes, waffles and more besides. Sometimes there is an American Diner theme and sometimes a European theme. It's up to the hosts as to what the items are priced at but the trend seems to be just 50p an item because the morning is not so much about raising funds, although the contributions are very welcome indeed, but more in order to bring people in the village together and on this count it more than achieves its aim. As an addition, on some weeks there may be different items for sale. So far we have had a selection of half price car cleaning polishes and other items as well as books and jewellery. Overall, the coffee mornings are being well supported and it's good to see some mums and toddlers coming along as well. So, if you've not been along yet then do come along to the next one - we would really love to see you. If you have been along then do come along again as we will have different hosts and that means different fare as well. If you would care to host a Coffee Drop In, we would be delighted to add you to the rota - the more hosts we can get the better. Please call Stephanie on 01953 488 495 Do, please, come along and support us!! (Proceeds from the refreshment sales go to the village hall fund - thank you) Thank you to the hosts each week who have very kindly given freely of their time and in many cases provided the food as well although we do not encourage them to do so - we are more than happy for them to provide their time, Whether the hosts are on the village hall committee or not, they are all worthy of recognition so our thanks go to them for their kindness in helping to ensure the upkeep of the village hall which will benefit Caston as a whole.
